Pioneer Theatre Guild’s FutureStars 2019 opened last weekend in its 17th year at Pioneer High School’s Schreiber Auditorium. The citywide talent search for Ann Arbor’s next star, FutureStars features students from Ann Arbor’s public high schools as they sing, dance, rap, and play music.
Each of the four preliminary shows features a musical theme. The top three acts from each preliminary show perform at the Finals, critiqued by a panel of celebrity judges and voted on by the audience, to determine the winning “FutureStar 2019.”
Here is some video from last weekend’s preliminary round:
Louise Scoville sings “Across the Universe.”
Ashanti K. Campbell, Shane Collins and Treyvon Foster sing “It’s Tricky.”
This weekend’s Final Competition also includes performances by the RisingStars (participating underclassmen), wildcard performances, and special guest appearances.
